INSTRUCTIonal practices

My approaches to teaching:

  • Implementing concept driven transdisciplinary units of inquiry, with clear standards and learning outcomes

  • Fostering international-mindedness by developing learning experiences set in local and global contexts

  • Engaging students by using varied approaches to learning and scaffolding based on student needs, interests and preferred modalities

  • Organizing cooperative learning environments to foster shared collaborative learning experiences

  • Using a variety of formative and summative assessments to inform learning and instruction.

What does my learning look like in my classroom?

Here are some photos and keywords highlighting what I think is important in learning.

(Please note they are not in any particular order of importance.)

One of the home learning tasks from our differentiated math menu was to create a video or song to teach what we've learned in geometry.  Asher wrote his own rap and we enlisted Mr. Manley's beat-boxing skills to accompany his performance.  Woohoo!
